I've enjoyed Laura K. Hamiltons books so far, having flown three the first three in a matter of weeks, however Lunatic Cafe took me quite some time to get through. Not sure why that was. It ended a bit to abruptly as well, but I'm glad I'm done with it.
I'm going to take a breather and read the infamous Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code (am I one of the only ones that haven't read this yet?). One of the reasons I haven't gotten into this book is that the fictional themes that made this book so controversial and thereby so popular were written about long ago by others, see “Holy Blood, Holy Grail”. I won't pretend to know whether his intent was to capitalize on controversy or whether the popularity caused it, but as a theme it's been done before and made for very interesting reading. I'm trying to shake off that bias towards disliking the book at the get go, and just sit back and enjoy the work he's been able to do with a topic that interests me greatly.
I suppose if any one is to blame it's society, whom only seems to take issue with things when it impacts them directly. Most people don't give two sheets if it doesn't have an immediate impact on their own person or family... and before someone thinks I'm all high and mighty I lump myself with the same. Fess up, you're likely the same too. We just don't like to admit it.
