Get up, come on get down with the sickness!

Who would have thought that Lynn had Strepp? By Monday the whole family was sharing the love. I went and saw a Dr. House wanna be. Now I like House (Fox), but that doesn't mean I want him to be my doctor (unless of course I'm dying from some unknown cause). This is the second time I've seen this doctor and the second time he's not performed any tests, just listened to a few symptoms and then prescribed...antibiotics. His reasoning behind prescribing them can be closely aligned with the “If it's not bacterial, it's not going to hurt and if it is bacterial it could only help” mentality.

Now granted, I'm diabetic. I don't heal like normal people, I don't recover from bacterial infection as well as others, so I'll buy the antibiotic story as it applies to me. I certainly hope that his attitude is a phenomena aligned with folks in similar condition and not everyone. But regardless, TEST ME. Swab the back of the mouth and make sure it's strepp. Don't take my word for it. Don't sit back with a smug little face, concentrating on some innocuous point in space and then give me some spill about how you've come to some conclusion without a test. I'm not a person that likes to suffer for “just a few days longer” on the off chance that the diagnosis is wrong, not when a test that takes five extra minutes of your time, can prove one way or the other. Think of a test as proof positive that you're a clinical genius as opposed to whether or not I return with the same symptoms in three days.
