Last week I went out and purchased a new lense for my Canon. I didn't go hog wild and buy an L series but instead bought the modest Canon EF 50mm 1.4 USM lense from Biggs Camera, a local shop in Charlotte, NC. I would likely have bought this online somewhere had it not been for the $150.00 gift certificate that was burning a hole in my pocket.
I did a bit of research and for people like me, limited budget and limited skill, it would seem that the lens is a great choice. For it's price it has incredible clarity and is very fast. Here's a shot I took without a flash, handheld (and I don't have steady hands).
